Me and Alexandra

Things are just rockin’ here in Leipzig… Not only have we made out two baptism dates this transfer…we just made out two more!!! It is awesome! One is with Richard, his date is not until the end of July though, but we are still going to keep working with him to keep him moving towards that date. The other one is with Alexandra. . . she is awesome… in fact, she almost called off the baptismal date with us yesterday because she said she talked to her mom and her friends about it and then we asked her…Did you pray about it and she said no and so she says this time she will really pray about it… it is awesome! Keep her in your prayers!!

We are still meeting with Valerie and her family… we gave her the Book of Mormon last time in Spanish and says she will read it! Hopefully soon we will start really teaching her. Right now we just teach her 5 year old son, but usually when we teach him…she listens in and so maybe that will get her going.

Nadine is still rockin’… she is getting baptized on the 12^th in Hanover, so we are excited to make our trip up there for that special day and she is just super excited as well!!

We did exchanges on Thursday to Friday morning. . I went to Magdeburg with Sister Lederer. She is way cool and is from Austria. We had fun together and we found a Muslim community and they were all asking for a Book of Mormon and sooo… looks like they are going to need to order more Urdu books.

Not much more happened this week, but we did do a sport activity on Saturday with the young single adults… lots of fun.

New pass along cards

I sent a picture of our new pass along cards and they are so awesome. Our big theme in the mission is Fishin’ with Nets…. Meaning the Internet. We taught Priesthood and Relief Society on Sunday with the Elders and did this power point presentation to get people excited about member missionary work and how there are people out there prepared to hear the gospel and then we handed everyone cards to give to their friends and told some stories on how some people joined the church through a member friend. It was so awesome and I got a lot of compliments on my German after that!! SWEET! And people were then asking for more cards from us. It was so awesome!

We had a eating appointment with the Ebert family yesterday…Bruder Ebert is so hilarious though. He learned a new English word from Sister McCall and I and now he uses it all the time… we did not teach it to him on purpose…but it is just really funny. . . .The word is ‘Heck.’ But anyways. The work is getting better and better everyday.

I am so grateful to be out here and serve the Lord. This really is a wonderous work here on the earth. . .

25 lessons ... oh yeah!

Oh wow…So much has happened this week….I guess I can just start off by Monday. So we did Sport for P-day last Monday and played some American Football. It was so funny because one of the Elders threw me the ball and I caught it and got so excited that I said “ Now what” and they all yelled “RUN” then they all started laughing and was like and “you’re the one from Texas.”

Tuesday I got my haircut…It is really short now. This member in our ward Schwester Pops cut it.

Anyways…Sister McCall and I had a goal of 24 lessons this week and well we got 25. dang!! It was sweet…we went by this less active, Sandra. She usually never lets us in, we only talk to her outside her door, but this time she let us in and we were there for a while…. And to our surprise she actually let us share a spiritual thought!! Miracle 1!!!

We also have this investigator (really sweet old lady) named Frau Gaebert! She is awesome and we teach her about once a week!

As for our awesome family … I believe I have talked a little about them… Valerie is from Peru and her husband is from Germany…They have a five year old son, Valentine, and a two year old daughter, Emily. They are so fun and I got to eat some sweet Peruvian food this week!! Yum. We are working on giving them the Book of Mormon, but right now the mom just likes us to talk to Valentine about God and we tell him stories from the bible…Next time though we are going to sneak in some stories about Joseph Smith and then get the Book of Mormon out… They are so awesome.  Last time we told Valentine that Jesus was his brother and he just started crying…and he was so heart broken that he is his brother…It was so sad. But we will work on that.

We have a new baptism….Her name is Nadine. I believe I have also told y’all a little about her!! She is so awesome. We actually asked her about a week and half ago to be baptized…but she said she was not sure. We were thinking that maybe it could be because of her fiancé. Anyways, we then saw her at institute on Tuesday and she told us that Sven, her fiancé told her that he does not care what she does with her life…just as long as she is with him. .. We were then like…sweet, we are totally going to ask her again to be baptized. So then our next appointment with her on Thursday…we asked her again. So she lives in Leipzig during the week for school and work, but goes home to Hanover every weekend and goes to church every Sunday there.  Her best friend is a member there and so she was like I think the 12^th of June would be awesome, but I want to talk to my best friend first. So she pretty much committed to June 12^th and she will be baptized in Hanover, so we are going to see if we can get permission to go there as well! We are so stoked!

Leipzig Zone

We did have zone conference on Friday and I did get my package!! Thank you very much!!! And I loved the Swedish fish, because you cannot get those in Germany!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple more things….we went to Young Womens on Sunday and talked to them about why we came on missions and what you can do to prepare for one and it was just so neat…and I got complimented on my German for the first time!! That was super exciting.

I love it so much out here spreading the gospel to everyone and it helps a lot to have an awesome companion, Sister McCall to help make it even better!!! Oh yeah and she is from Shoreline Washington.

For other things.,… congratulations to Jessica (cousin)  and also Happy Birthday to the May birthdays Kiersten, David, and Eric!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And the flowers in the pictures are from Mothers day and could you try to get Frau Hanes address for me… I would love to write her!!!

p.s. One thing I do not like about Germany is my name…Brittany is not a German name and so when I tell someone my first name the first thing they say is “oh, like Britney Spears”.  I am like “NO” ... seriously everyone says that….It drives me crazy!! I do not like it!

A wonderous work

Wow this week in Leipzig was the bomb!

Mosiah 2:16   “….For I have only been in the service of God.”

First off…Sister McCall and I have had a great success together. We were just talking about how much more successful the missionary work is when the companions are just so great for each other. And we have for sure felt that in the two weeks that we have been together.

First of all…We have a new investigator family from Peru. They are so awesome. After our first appointment with them we both agreed that we can totally see the whole family as members of the church. The mom is super busy with things and so the oldest son who is like 5 years old loves to talk to us about God and then the little girl is one year old. The dad is atheist, but the whole family is totally ready to hear our message we have for them. We are so excited to keep meeting with them.

Our Bishop and his wife are so amazing…they are retired and so they tell us we can stop by anytime we want…every time we do though they she always fixes us up a big lunch. Lol. They are so sweet though and I love working with them.

We also have an investigator named Philip…He is awesome, just slowly making progress. The good part is that he does not smoke in front of us anymore during our appointments. But he totally will be baptized one day for sure. He comes to all the activities for the young single adults.

We met this really cute old lady on the street last week and met with her for the first time on Thursday. Her name is Frau Becher. She is just so sweet and we are going a bit slow with her, because she told us she thought the Jehovah Witnesses were too pushy and so we do not want to be that way for sure. But we will be meeting with her every Thursday.

Nadine is an awesome investigator. Her best friend is Mormon in Hanover so she goes there every weekend and goes to church with her friend. My first appointment with her she brought her fiancé and wanted us to teach him the plan of salvation and was like bearing testimony to him that they can be an eternal family… it was so cute. We invited her to baptism our last appointment, but she said she will pray about it. We are really praying for June fourth with her. She also comes to all the young single adult activities… it is awesome and she told us she really does believe everything we have taught and given her is true.

Chrystal and me

Crystal is an awesome member who was active for four years and then went inactive for 16 years and is now fully active for the past three months. She is so awesome. We meet with her once a week and are re-teaching her everything because she does not remember it all. She is so much fun and such a great enthusiastic person for the gospel. I love her.

Richard is this other investigator who had a baptismal date back in November, but did not show up for it. We are working with him and he is starting to rethink about baptism. He is from Bolivia and makes amazing food. My goodness.

Alexandra is awesome is a single mom …with a four and a five year old and has no idea where the dad is. But she is such a light. We usually will go see her twice a week and we go to the park so her kids can play…She mostly just needs someone to talk to and always loves us to read her a scripture every time we see her.

And finally, we had an eating appointment yesterday and that lady stuffed us. … We had to go lay down after the appointment because our stomachs hurt so bad. Why do these people think we can just eat so much…because we really cannot. My goodness.

Things are just rockin’ here and I love it. The gospel is true… And I will probably get y’alls package on Friday at zone conference!! I am excited I will get to see Sister Risenmay.

Leipzig

Meine familie,

Well... I am not a fan of repeating myself since I talked to people on the phone yesterday!!! It was great to hear everyone's voices!!!

Myself and Sister McCall

I am transferred and am now serving in Leipzig... I absolutely love it. It is much much much bigger than Rostock and we have two wards here. But  absolutely love it. My companion is Sister McCall and we are pretty much best friends and we have not even been together for a week. We are so much alike...it is really scary, but loads of fun.  We work and teach extremely well together. I love her to death. We both came out of a rough companionship, so we are so grateful to be able to serve with each other. She is my third companion.

So, in Galations 5:6 it says, "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love."  Just thought that would be a good scripture to share.
So on Tuesday I arrived in Leipzig after a 7 hour train ride. Sister McCall and I clicked right away. Then the next day we met with our investigator named Philipp. He is way cool and totally wants to know if the Book of Mormon is true...We just need to get those cigarettes out of his hand. Blah. Then we met with a awesome member Chrytal. She is such a go-getter and we were just laughing and having a good time talking to her.

Anyways, I do not really know that many people yet...but we do have a baptism. On Friday. Sister McCall and I had an appointment with this guy named Sven. This was the second time meeting with him and we taught him he plan of salvation. Afterwards, we talked a little about the gift of the Holy Ghost and then he was like..but you can only have that after baptism?  He then said, but I am not baptized...So we asked him, Well do you want to be baptized and he said yes. He will be baptized on June 12th and we are so so so excited!! My first baptism!!!!!!

Anyways,  I will tell y'all more next week about everthing, but those are some of the exciting news from this week... this is going to be an awesome transfer!!

Goodbye Rostock

Meine familie,

"But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: For it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye speak, but the spirit of your Father which speaketh in you."  Matthew 10: 19-20

Well my predictions were right... I am being transferred. As much as I love Rostock, it is my time to go, for the Lord needs me elsewhere. I have grown a lot here in Rostock...considering my very first three transfers were here...four months. I am being tranferred to Leipzig...check it out on the map.  I have a long train ride to go.  First time I will be by myself for a long period of time!! Five hours!  My new companion seems super cool, as I have talked to her on the phone...her name is Sister McCall and she is from Seattle Washington...would ya look at that! I am super excited to serve in Leipzig....they have two sets of elders there and also a senior couple.  They also have two wards.  It will for sure be a change from Rostock...I love this tiny little branch over the Netto, but, I will actually be in a regular church building now.

Before I forget...info for Mothers day...I actually will not be calling y'all. In this mission y'all are to call us. So, the time you can call me is at 4:00 p.m (German time).  I think it is around 9:00 y'alls time. The number you are to call is the church buildings phone ... . So I will be very much looking forward to y'alls phone call to me!! lol.

Anyways... back to my week.  We had an interesting week this week, but super fun.  We had a crazy appointment with these two awesome black guys...Marco and Philip. The appointment was going good and then their drunk friends came over and it got interesting.  Then, when we were leaving, this guy saw us walk out of the apartment and gave a little wolf whistle at us and, oh my goodness... then said, "Hey pretty ladies" and gave Marco and Philip a thumbs up.  As soon as we turned the corner we heard Marco and Philip trying to tell the guy that we did not do anything...that those girls are just from the church.  Yeah, it was funny.  Keep Thomas in your prayers.  We have not had contact with him for two weeks.  We are really trying to get hold of him.

So, on Wednesday I went to Greifswald for exchanges.  I was there with Sister Calder.  It was so much fun because I got to ride a bike for the first time on the mission and I absolutely loved it. I love bike contacting down the street...it is so much fun.  Sister Calder and I celebrated my 6 month mark and we raced down the street a couple time on our bikes. It was a blast.  Then before heading back to Rostock, we got together with Elder Thorley and Reisen and did morning sport...we played soccer...lots of fun.

Anyways, yesterday was my last Sunday in Rostock...I will miss it.  I have improved on my German so much, but everyone is telling me that Leipzig is practically another language over there. ... oh good. lol. Well, I am looking forward to it.  I may not speak the language the best (all the ward members tell me I have improved so much and I can actually understand way more) but, the most important thing I learned was listening to the spirit. Without the Holy Ghost I could never be able to say what I want to say to the people in German. Yesterday I was to give my testimony since it was my last sunday, I actually cried a little. But the ward members gave me hugs and I will for sure keep in touch with them!! They are just so precious to me... and I pray that one day Thomas and Noriama both get baptized.  I never got to see my baptism in the Baltic, but one day I will hear of theirs.

Anyways... I cannot wait to talk to y'all on Sunday and just remember you will be calling me about 4:00 p.m. my time.
